Research and Knowledge Management

HENNET bridges the gap between research and implementation by converting complex data into practical tools for grassroots NGOs. Our partnership with APHRC and KEMRI has produced 15 policy briefs in 2024 alone—like the UHC Financing Guide used by 90+ members to secure county health contracts.
The Nairobi Innovation Hub equips members with digital solutions, including a disease surveillance system deployed in 12 malaria-endemic counties. Real-time data from 150+ organizations powers Kenya’s first NGO Health Impact Dashboard, tracking 200+ standardized indicators.

Our 2023 Vaccine Equity Study—involving 63 member organizations—revealed critical access barriers for pastoralist communities, directly informing the Ministry of Health’s mobile clinic rollout. The study’s community-led methodology is now a gold standard for participatory research.
Upcoming initiatives include:
• AI-powered epidemic prediction models with University of Nairobi
• County-level data clubs to localize SDG tracking
• A member-published journal for field innovations
15 evidence-to-action guides co-created in 2024, including the PHC Optimization Toolkit downloaded 1,200+ times by NGOs and county officials.
89% member adoption of our data platform, with 400+ monthly exchanges of crisis alerts, funding leads, and best practices.
63 organizations contributed to our vaccine equity study, shaping national mobile clinic policies benefiting 2.3 million Kenyans.
